    Using resin

Hi. I am new to using resin. I am making a mould of an engine cover for a boat. I have recently brought some resin ect including the protective equipment. As the cover is not far from the entrance to the cabin I am wondering how long it take for that very strong smell the resin gives off to go off. Does it go off as the resin sets?

90% of the styrene (the solvent smell) is gone within 2 days, the last of the cure may take upto 2 weeks depending on catalyst additions, temperature. If it is still smelling strong check that there is nothing that could be uncured or even having a tin of resin with resin stuck to the outside of the tin can cause a stink. Styrene is heavier than air so can hang around a long time inside a confined space.
