    melamine mould

    have just ordered and received my materials for laying up from a tray shape mould using melamine board as suggested in forum.just want to confirm I need to put nothing on the melamine to assist the release from the mould,thankyou in advance

    Correct. Melamine, formica and many other plastics (abs,pvc,pp) are all known as 'self releasing'. It's handy that their surfaces are so smooth at a microscopic level that resins or conventional adhesives that rely on secondary bonding (surface grip) do not hold.

    That said ensure that your melamine is free from surface defects like scratches.
